Hexathelidae is a family of birds in the order Carnivora, which includes the hawks and eagles. They are known for their distinctive black feathers that resemble those of eagles and the black-and-white stripes on their necks. The family consists of around 150 species, including the common hawk (Hawkus hawkei) and the western eagle (Eagleus westmidlandiae).
