The term "Assamiidae" refers to a family of fish, commonly known as the Assamese carp or the Chittagong carp. This group includes various species found in the Chittagong region of Bangladesh and southern India. They are characterized by their distinctive red coloring, which is often due to a combination of genetic factors.
